With an aim to promote eco-tourism and protect wild life, the Rajasthan government on Wednesday cleared a proposal to declare 13,100 hectare forest land in Sikar and Jhunjhunu, the town of Alsisar Mahal as ‘Shakambhari Conservation Reserve’. 

The Rajasthan cabinet cleared the proposal for the Reserve under section 36-A of Wild Life (protection) Act.

The decision, which was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, would help in promoting eco-tourism besides providing effective protection and atmosphere for development of wild life in the Reserve. Click to view slideshow.

The project would bring investment of Rs 30 crore and help in providing employment to 700 to 800 people directly and indirectly.
