Immerse in the Pageantry of Rajasthani Traditions with Gangaur at Alsisar
When we talk about festivals in Rajasthan, Gangaur is considered among the most celebrated festival here. Dedicated to the devotion of Goddess Parvati also regarded as Gauri, worshiped by womenfolk, Gangaur is the vibrant festival of rituals and traditions that Rajasthan is famous for. Marked to be celebrated on 30th March, 2017 with full enthusiasm, Gangaur procession within the walled city is the sight to behold.
Though Gangaur is celebrated all over the state, yet it reserves an important seat in Jaipur and more enthusiastically in Alsisar. In Jaipur, for the newly wedded women, it is a binding to observe and fulfill the full course of 18 days of the festival that succeeds her marriage. The women folk and young girls apply mehandi on their hands and adorn themselves with bright attire. The Gangaur procession in Jaipur, which is followed by thousands of devotees and visitors, begins from City Palace and through the major routes including Tripolia Bazar, Gangauri Bazar, Chaughan Stadium and finally converges near Talkatora. Being present there all time and the happiness of experiencing this captivating view of decorated chariots, camels and horses is at a different level.
Alsisar Hotels every year celebrate the festivities of colorful, traditional and culturally rich Gangaur with great enthusiasm and fanfare at the Alsisar Mahal in Jhunjhunu- Shekhawati, but this year the enthusiasm is expected to multiply to doubles. With bigger idols of Eesar Gangaur and huge number of participants as well as spectators from various towns and neighboring cities, Alsisar Mahal will mark the festivities on a much grand and bigger scale by hosting the Gangaur pooja at the palace followed by the procession where entire village of Alsisar will gathered in the palace premises. The euphonic voice of ladies while singing the traditional songs, dedicated to the divine is another charm of Gangaur festival.
Each festival in Rajasthan is incomplete without the cuisines and sweet dishes linked with it. A sweet delicacy Ghewar is the characteristic of the Gangaur festival. It is one of the famous dishes in Jaipur which is bought and shared with relatives and friends on the Gangaur festival.
We will celebrate Gangaur on 30th and 31st March in all its glory at Alsisar Mahal Jhunjhunu!!
We are proud of our contribution to the royal grandeur of Rajasthan and wish that it keeps getting better.
